The Royal Air Force was born on the 1st.April 1918 from the marriage of the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) and the Royal Flying Corps (RFC). The Woman's Royal Air Force (WRAF) was also formed at this time.

The next time that you are in London, walk along The Strand heading away from Fleet Street and look out on the left for a large brass plate with "80" on it. Underneath the arch there, you'll find a circular plaque, telling you where it all started.
